Kampala based It specialist Robert Shaka has been remanded to Luzira Prison. This comes despite his lawyers acquiring an order for his unconditional release by the Nakawa Magistrates Court this morning. In what can only be described as a turn of events, Shaka who has been detained at the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) base in Kireka since Monday 8th June was this afternoon moved to the Buganda Road Court.

It has now emerged that his case has been adjourned till Monday 15th June.

According to the official charge sheet seen by this magazine, Shaka is accused of disguising himself as social media personality Tom Voltaire Okwalinga. Under this pseudonym, Shaka allegedly “willfuly and repeatedly using a computer with no purpose of legitimate communication disturbed the right of privacy of H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni by posting statements as regards his health condition on social media to wit Facebook,” reads the statement.

Earlier today, Shaka while talking to visitors who had gone to see him at the SIU base said, “This country is beautiful, I have met very nice people here in prison, listened to their stories. Everyone should know that I am strong, and in good health. I don’t want to interfere with the police, I want them to do their job so that I can be able to walk out a free man. I thought i was a small man, I am shocked at the way people are in and out. I am sure I will get out of this stronger. I have forgiven everyone who ordered for my arrest and those who accuse me of all wrong doing. I am an innocent man.”

In a phone call with this Magazine, Nicholas Opiyo, the principle legal counsel for Shaka said, “Our client’s transfer and entire process at the Buganda Road Court was in contempt of this morning’s order of his release. It is regrettable that the order was disregarded and we now have to wait till Monday.”
