MTN Uganda has introduced a product that will allow its customers to purchase monthly unlimited internet packages with no data caps and no megabytes to recharge.
While addressing the media at MTN offices in Kololo on Monday, 5th June, 2017, MTN CEO, Wim Vanhelleputte said, “We are excited to be championing initiatives that enable our customers to do more with the internet at affordable rates which is in line with our vision – to deliver a bold, new digital world to our customers.”
The introduction of unlimited packages, that is available from Ushs 99,000 represents a major shift in customer demands for heavy internet usage, away from the traditional bundles characterized by data caps. The package comes in Premium which is available all day and night for Ushs 330,000 for 30 days, Basic in which a customer enjoys unlimited internet at Ushs 179,000 for 30 days and Night package in which customers will part with Ushs 99,000 for 30 days’ validity.

The General Manager MTN Business, Anthony Katamba noted that with widespread changes in Information Technology that have enabled business and lifestyle cloud services, it is no longer convenient to maintain data caps on all internet packages.
“This is the reason MTN is delighted to develop a solution that allows users to connect to these services without any barriers. We are definitely aware of the fact that unlimited internet around the world runs the risk of abuse and therefore, this product has been designed to guard against such behavior through promoting the spirit of fair usage,” he said.
The package can be activated either through the use of airtime from Smartphone or any other data device by dialing *150*55Ok and follow prompts, dial *160#Ok and follow prompts or by using the MyMTN App, through Mobile Money (*165#Ok select option 7 to buy bundles), or by visiting any MTN Service Center or Calling Customer Service on 100. MTN business customers can contact their account managers.
